Raffles Institution (Secondary) (RSS) was founded on 5 June 1823 by Sir Stanford Raffles, a Briton who was also the discoverer and first governor of Singapore. The school offers thorough training courses (raffles curriculum) in conjunction with Raffles Girls’ Secondary School and Raffles Junior College. Over its 180-year history, the school has educated almost all of Singapore’s leading politicians and businessmen, including its two prime ministers, Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong.
