Founded in 1942, the Singapore KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in Singapore that specializes in specialized medical care for women and children. It has 12 specialities in the department of gynaecology and 24 specialities in the department of paediatrics, with a total of 900 beds.
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital is also a teaching hospital affiliated to the faculty of medicine of the National University of Singapore. It has 2,594 employees, 312 doctors and 1,073 nurses. The hospital is committed to patient safety and continuous improvement of patient care processes and outcomes.
The hospital is the only maternity and children’s hospital in Singapore, providing 45 medical specialities for women and children.
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital breast cancer centre is the first medical facility in the world to use FDA-approved computerized radio scan equipment for phosphor-plate breast imaging. The imaging technique could help detect breast cancer at an early stage.
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s cancer centre in Southeast Asia, with a cure rate of 80% for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
